Formula: tons = length ft × width ft × (depth in ÷ 12) × 125 lb/ft³ ÷ 2,000 lb, then + waste %

How the calculation works
The calculation is length × width × depth. Convert depth from inches to feet, then divide cubic feet by 27 for cubic yards. Multiply cubic feet by 125 and divide by 2,000 for short tons. The entered allowance percentage increases tonnage only.
For example, a 100-foot by 12-foot area at 4 inches deep is 400 cubic feet, or 14.81 cubic yards. At 125 lb/ft³, it requires 25 tons before allowance. Calculate separate sections if the depth changes.
Millings vary by source, particle size, moisture, and compaction. The density here is a generic compacted estimate. It does not convert a loose truckload into a guaranteed finished depth. Ask the supplier whether its quoted quantity is measured by weight or loose volume.

Can I enter loose depth?

Does the result include delivery loads?
No. Divide the estimated tonnage by the supplier’s confirmed payload to estimate load count. Truck capacity is not assumed here.
