PDF Takeoff Software
PDF takeoff software from CivilTakeoff lets you measure areas, lengths, and counts directly on plan sheets in your browser. Set each sheet’s scale, measure the work, and organize the quantities by pay item. You can edit measurements as you go and export the totals to Excel.

Set the scale and measure
Upload the PDF plan set. CivilTakeoff reads sheet names and looks for the scale in the title block. Confirm the detected scale against a known dimension, or calibrate the sheet if it is missing or incorrect. Set detail views to their own scale.
Draw areas and lengths, or count items on the plan. You can move individual points, snap to nearby geometry, cut islands out of an area, and undo changes. A condition is a group of measurements with a shared name and settings. Use separate conditions for work that needs separate quantities, such as different pipe sizes or pavement sections.
Use the dimension tool to measure a distance without creating a condition. Search the sheet text to find notes and details across the set. On supported vector PDFs, automatic area selection creates an editable measurement from a shaded region.
Example: a utility takeoff
Measure pipe runs by size and material, then count structures by type. Attach the relevant pay items to each condition so the measurements contribute to the correct totals. Use utility details and profiles to measure work beyond the plan view. The finished quantity list exports to Excel with Base Bid and Alternates kept separate.
Requirements and limits
Automatic area selection requires supported vector geometry. On scanned sheets, set the scale and measure manually. Both methods produce editable measurements.
