Pay-Item Takeoff

Pay-item takeoff organizes measurements into the quantities required by a civil bid schedule. Attach items to an area, length, or count, then use their conversion settings to calculate the required units. CivilTakeoff totals quantities by item and keeps Base Bid and Alternates in separate groups for review and Excel export.

Attach items and set the conversions

A condition is a measurement group with shared settings. Attach pay items to it to use the same measured geometry for more than one quantity. For example, a paving area can supply square yards of surface, cubic yards of base at an entered depth, and asphalt tonnage using the item’s depth and weight settings.

The item library stores your codes, descriptions, units, and calculation methods. Supported methods include direct unit conversion, area times depth for volume, weight conversion, and a factor per measured unit. CivilTakeoff applies each item’s units and factors to the measured quantity.

Import library items from CSV and reuse them across the organization, with project-specific overrides where needed. Save repeat measurement setups as condition templates. Mark alternate work separately so its quantities stay out of the Base Bid totals. Export the totals to Excel.

Example: one paving area, three quantities

An illustrative paving area measures 37,650 square feet. Divide by 9 to obtain 4,183.33 square yards. A base item uses the specified depth to calculate cubic yards, while an asphalt item uses its course depth and weight setting to calculate tons. Keep a porous-pavement alternate in a separate group so you can review its effect without adding it to the Base Bid.

Requirements and limits

CivilTakeoff uses your item library and project conversion settings; it does not include an agency item list by default.
