How the calculation works
Calculate cubic feet as length × width × depth in feet, then divide by 27 for cubic yards. Weight is cubic feet × the selected density ÷ 2,000. The allowance increases tonnage while the displayed volume stays before allowance.
A 50-foot by 20-foot area at 6 inches deep contains 500 cubic feet, or 18.52 cubic yards. That gives 25 tons at 100 lb/ft³ or 23.75 tons at 95 lb/ft³, before allowance. The two results use different assumed densities for the same volume.
The loose/compacted selector is not a compaction calculator. It changes the density used in the multiplication; it does not determine shrinkage, moisture content, or the loose volume needed for a specified finished depth.
Stone product names and gradations do not establish a single density. Ask your supplier for a value appropriate to the material and its condition. To use a custom density, multiply the displayed cubic yards by 27 and by that density, then divide by 2,000 outside this widget.

Can I enter my supplier’s density?
There is no custom-density input. Use CY × 27 × supplier density in lb/ft³ ÷ 2,000 in a separate calculation, then apply any allowance.
