What Is a PSF File?
A PSF file should be identified by the application that created it before you choose how to open or export it. For a file received with a PlanSwift project, ask the sender which application and version created it. PlanSwift’s current help documents SwiftJob sharing and report exports; the extension alone does not establish the contents.
Identify what you received
Ask which application and version produced the file and whether it is a project package, report, or unrelated file. Request the original plan PDFs separately if your task is to measure the plans. Renaming an extension does not convert a file or make its measurements compatible with another application.
Use PlanSwift’s documented sharing and export options
PlanSwift documents Zip SwiftJob for sharing a job with another PlanSwift user. Its report tools also export to PDF and Excel templates. A shared project package and a quantity report serve different purposes: one is for continuing work in PlanSwift, while the other records selected output.
Before relying on an archive, test the saved job in the intended PlanSwift environment and inspect the exported reports. Keep item names, units, and quantities visible in the export.
Prepare PlanSwift work for reuse
- 1
Ask the sender for a supported SwiftJob package when you need to continue editing in PlanSwift.
- 2
Retain the original issued plan PDFs and revision information for measurement in another application.
- 3
Export quantity reports to Excel with item names, units, and totals. Keep PDF reports as additional records where useful.
- 4
For a CivilTakeoff item library, prepare a CSV with code, description, and unit columns. Recreate the measurements and condition setup you need in the new project.
Using this file with CivilTakeoff
CivilTakeoff supports original plan PDFs and item-library CSVs, but does not import PSF or SwiftJob projects.
Frequently asked questions
Can CivilTakeoff open a PSF file?
No. Use original PDF plans for measurement in CivilTakeoff.
How does PlanSwift document job sharing?
Its current help describes Zip SwiftJob packages and SwiftShare for sharing with another PlanSwift user. Use the instructions for your version.
Will an Excel export transfer my drawn measurements?
No. An Excel export preserves report data; recreate drawn measurements from the original plan PDFs.
